Snow Removal Begins . . .

West Lakes and Hudson Bay Road Crew
Present Location: West Lakes Road Crew has cleared one lane of traffic from the Avalanche Exhibit up to mile marker 20, which is just below the Logan Creek Restrooms turnout. Crews are encountering snow depths of 4'-6'. Crews also worked on clearing two lanes of traffic from Red Rock Point to the Avalanche Exhibit area. Road conditions are mainly clear up to Red Rock point turnout, with some patches of ice. Weather conditions today were partly cloudy with temperatures between 34 to 48 degrees.

Hudson Bay Road Crew continued pioneering with the rotary up to the Dead Horse turnout. Crews are encountering snow depths around 3' and above 5' in the drifted areas. Crews are also working on the Many Glacier Road and are currently working beyond the Swiftcurrent dam. They are encountering snow depths of 4'.

Projected Work Activity (next scheduled work day 4/9/08): West Lakes Road Crew will continue pioneering up to mile point 21.25, which is around Goose Curve and they will continue widening from the Red Rock Point on up the road. Hudson Bay Road Crew will continue pioneering up towards Sun Point and will also continue working on the Many Glacier Road.
