Weather, Fall Colors and Elk

Weather still tops the news around here. It's raining and snowing at the higher elevations. The wind has not been much of a "problem" lately, but if youre coming this way be sure youre ready for it.

It wont be long, with this weather and the shorter days before the leaves are golden. The colors dont usually last long mainly because about the time they change, we get a huge wind storm that blows them off the trees. . .

I had to chance to photograph elk this weekend, it's the start of the rut and the bulls are getting ready to fight for their dominance and breading rights. Here's a shot of a charged up bull looking for some cows (not a glacier park shot). Elk in the park are very difficult to photograph, they are hard to find and very very weary of people due to the fact that they are hunting by everthing from bears to cougars to wolves to people 365 days per year. If you see good numbers of elk in glacier consider yourself lucky!

Take care,

Tony
